Prison Break: The Conspiracy (XBOX360)

source by : gamespot.com

Prison Break: The Conspiracy is an action-adventure video game based on the first season of the Fox television series Prison Break, released for Microsoft Windows, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

It was released on March 19, 2010 in Germany, March 26, 2010 in the United Kingdom and Europe, and March 30, 2010 in North America. The game had been in development for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 for release in February 2009, but was canceled when Brash Entertainment closed down. However, ZootFly continued the development and self-funded the project for 13 months. Once the game was polished and nearly finished, it was picked up by new publisher Deep Silver

Prison life is difficult to emulate within the realm of video games. Because you always have the choice to turn off a torturous game and move on to something more fulfilling, the feeling of being locked away in a suffocating cell with no hope for freedom is hard to accurately convey through digital media. However, Prison Break: The Conspiracy does an admirable job of making every moment within its world mimic the utter hopelessness one must feel when trapped behind bars. This claustrophobic reenactment of the now-defunct television series never even reaches the level of tolerable. There's no reprieve from the boring fist fights and tedious stealth missions that constantly assault you throughout these eight-hours of grueling monotony. The story may appeal to fans of the series who long to interact with virtual representations of their favorite characters, but even the most ardent Prison Break fanatic should stay far away from The Conspiracy.
The Conspiracy cannot even give fans of the show the pleasure of controlling one of their favorite characters from the television series. Instead, you assume the role of Tom Paxton, a character created just for this game. Although he appears to be an ordinary prisoner--one convicted of first-degree murder--he is really a covert agent working for The Company. Your job is to do some sleuthing around the big house to figure out why Michael Scofield is really behind bars and ensure that his brother, Lincoln Borrows, goes through with his electric-chair execution. The various alliances and under-the-table dealings you must engage in may pique the interest of those who are intrigued by the shady lives of convicts, but the abrasive voice acting and stilted animations make it difficult for the uninitiated to be pulled into the layers of underhanded partnerships.

Alice in Wonderland

source by: gamespot.com

Ever had one of those days when you fall down a hole and wake up in a small room surrounded by talking animals? Having been through a similar experience 10 years ago in American McGee's Alice, you'd perhaps imagine that young Alice would have learned what happens when you quaff strange green liquids. And yet, here she is, chewing the fat with talking animals like she's just bumped into some old pals on the way to the shops. It's those talking animals that you play as in this action adventure as you explore Underland, solve some engaging puzzles, and do battle with both undemanding enemies and an uncooperative camera.

Based on Tim Burton's recently released movie adaptation of the classic Lewis Carroll novel, the game has such moments of unhinged irreverence that come thick and fast, but falling down a rabbit hole is the least of Alice's worries. Defenceless and seemingly hapless in her ability to remain an appropriate size for any length of time, she has to somehow fend off the Red Queen's army, as well as her slavering Jabberwocky, to avoid capture. But with the aid of an eccentric bunch of anthropomorphic allies with special skills, she goes off in search of the deadly Vorpal Sword to put a stop to the queen's nefarious plans once and for all. Your role in the game is of protector and chaperone of Alice, switching between characters to solve puzzles or swat away enemies along your journey. Initially accompanied through the vibrant fantasyland by McTwisp, the time-slowing rabbit, and Mallymkun, the sword-fighting dormouse, your animal collective eventually expands to a four-strong party. This party ends up including the optical illusion specialist, the Mad Hatter, and the master of invisibility, the Cheshire Cat.Ever had one of those days when you fall down a hole and wake up in a small room surrounded by talking animals? Judie no Atelier: Guramnat no Renkinjutsu - Toraware no Morito (PSP)

Judie no Atelier: Guramnat no Renkinjutsu - Toraware no Morito (JP)

Judie is an alchemist who had been tasked with the creation of the Dragon's Hourglass, an object that has the ability to stop time. Unfortunately, during its creation, a single strand of her hair somehow fell into her cauldron. This results in her being engulfed in a bright light and transported two hundred years into the future. Now, far away from everyone and everything that she's known, Judie must use her knowledge of alchemy to make a living while gathering the materials that she needs to build another Dragon's Hourglass so that she can get back to her own time.

Judie no Atelier: Guramnat no Renkinjutsu - Toraware no Morito is a remake of the forthAtelier game in the series. The 2002 PS2 original gave players the ability to travel between different cities to collect various items and compounds, allowing for the adventure elements that would become a staple of the series moving forward. Along with improved graphics and a new wide-screen presentation, this update adds larger dungeons as well as a new character to the mix.

There are few gaming franchises that are as polarizing as Sonic the Hedgehog. On one side, you have fans that are fiercely devoted to the Sonic of old--the fast-paced, side-scrolling games that were immensely popular on the Sega Genesis. On the other side, there are equally devoted fans of Sonic's most recent 3D outings. Somewhere in the middle exists a horrible no-man's-land where the two sides of fans continually clash over what the franchise is doing right and what it's doing wrong. Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode I seemingly functions as a compromise between the two legions of fans--perhaps leaning a bit more toward old-school Sonic fans. It has the classic gameplay of the original Sonic the Hedgehog games, but its portrayal of Sonic himself falls more in line with the recent 3D games.

Gameplay

Gameplay screenshot of Sonic the Hedgehog 4, of the "Splash Hill Zone".

The game will be a two-dimensional side-scrolling platformer reminiscent of the original Sonic games with an emphasis on speed. Players will control only Sonic the Hedgehog, using control mechanics such as the original spin dash and power-ups including Speed Shoes, alongside moves such as the homing attack seen in the 3D entries in the series. Players will be able to use the online leaderboards to compare their fastest times and high scores. Certain parts of the game, such as Special Stages based on the original Sonic the Hedgehog's bonus areas, require player to tilt the playing field in order to affect gravity. This is done via motion controls on the PS3 and Wii versions, whilst the Xbox 360 version uses standard controls.
